Allen Kagina has officially announced her retirement from the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), following the integration of its functions into the Ministry of Works and Transport.
In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, December 27, she wrote: “Having fully served its purpose, I am retiring the handle @UNRA_ED. It has been 9 years and 8 months of fruitful engagement on this platform… adieu.”
Kagina led the Authority for nine years, taking over after serving as Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority.
The Ministry of Works and Transport had earlier stated that once President Yoweri Museveni assented to the Uganda National Roads Authority (Repeal) Bill, 2024, it would take over UNRA’s services and obligations. President Museveni signed the bill into law this month, alongside the Uganda Road Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
The new law dissolves UNRA and the Uganda Road Fund, entities operational since 2006. The move aims to eliminate redundancy, cut government spending, and improve service delivery.
