Swiss importers actively engaged in collaborations with Chinese car companies during the Auto Zurich 2024, looking forward to introducing Chinese electric vehicles (EV) to the Swiss market.
The auto show has attracted 70 international car brands to showcase their latest models and technological achievements, among them are Chinese car brands Dongfeng Motor Corporation, Leapmotor, MG and JAC Motors.
During the annual event, Swiss importers actively engaged in collaborations with Chinese car companies looking forward to introducing Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) to the Swiss market. PATRICK VON BACHELLE, Importer of Leapmotor in Switzerland, “This is a big step for us and we have of course the responsibility together with Leapmotor to be a pioneer in the EV business. And we really see the technological features that Leapmotor brings. And I think the Swiss public is ready for all the innovation that comes from China. And customers are very, very, very curious, very critical. But once they have seen the product, sat in the car, they are convinced that this is high quality and that they are very excited to test drive and to try it out. And this is what’s going to happen in the next couple of months. We will try to show Switzerland that Leapmotor is a great option.”
SERGIO KAUFMANN, Importer of Dongfeng Motor in Switzerland, “Now, I realize that the Chinese cars are very, very good, very professional. And I decided to be an importer for Dongfeng because Dongfeng is one of the major Chinese brands. It’s not a startup company. It’s a huge company with very good products. We work with Dongfeng, and Dongfeng has a lot of very professional products. For sure, we try to sell as much as we can.”
HU YIPING, Dongfeng Motor Corporation International Business Department, “Switzerland, although small in size, possesses its own characteristics in the market. Firstly, Switzerland is a member of the Schengen Area, but not a European Union country. As we know, the EU recently imposed tariffs on electric and new energy vehicles from China, but Switzerland did not. This is actually a significant advantage. Besides, Switzerland is a place where we can better introduce our luxury electric vehicle brands, such as Voyah and Lantu. Switzerland is also one of the crucial markets for Dongfeng Motor in Europe, in the future and in the whole world.”
