In was indeed a public love affair on Saturday, July 6, at the Nikkah and introduction ceremony of Lyantonde District Woman Member of Parliament hopeful, Ms. Najjagwe Rahmah Saad, and her husband, Mr. Buyinza Abdul-Raheem, a key security officer at the Kyambogo-based Office of the National Chairman (ONC).
The event, held in Kyabuuza village, Lyantonde Town Council, Lyantonde District, was a grand affair that showcased the ‘power of money’ as thousands of guests witnessed the beginning of the Buyinzas’ union in a lavish style.
The ceremony was graced by numerous high-profile guests and dignitaries, including the Senior Presidential Advisor and Political Head ONC, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, and the incumbent Woman MP of Lyantonde, Ms. Pauline Kemirembe.
Hajjat Namyalo was escorted by her team from the Kyambogo based alongside other well-wishers who trekked all the way from Kampala to witness the union of the two love birds.
At exactly 4 pm on the evening, a queue of vehicles escorting Mr Buyinza (the groom) arrived at Kyabuuza village and by 5 pm, the Nikkah (the Islamic marriage ceremony) was conducted at Rahmah’s parents’ home, witnessed by her parents, Buyinza’s parents and other Muslim clerics presented at the event.
Soon after the Nikkah, the introduction ceremony (a traditional function in which the groom is officially welcomed into the bride’s home) ensued as locals witnessed a stupendous introduction like no other in the area.
Being that the couple all works under SPA Namyalo at ONC, the in-laws’ tent was filled to capacity with staff from the Kyambogo office, all clad in white tunics (Ekkanzu) and a jacket – for men, while the ladies niched it with the traditional wear of Gomesi and Mushanana.
Speaking during the event, Hajjat Namyalo wished the couple happiness and joy in their marriage. She advised them to be respectful to one another and practice forgiveness, key to solving any differences that may arise in their marriage.
The bride, Ms. Rahmah, now Mrs. Buyinza, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to SPA Namyalo for her unwavering support and love. She also thanked her parents, the ONC staff, and her husband for making the event memorable.
Rahmah, who is eyeing the Lyantonde Woman MP seat, praised her husband for taking the significant step of formalizing their union, which she described as every woman’s dream.
