The political atmosphere within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is warming up as preparations for the party’s internal elections gather momentum.
Among the emerging contenders is Ivan Ssemuddu, a familiar face in Uganda’s youth political circles, who has officially declared his bid for National Vice Chairperson of the NRM Youth League – Central Region for the 2025–2030 term.

With years of active involvement in youth leadership, Ssemuddu brings with him a solid reputation for consistency, grassroots mobilization, and principled service.
According to observers, his announcement has stirred interest, particularly among young party members, many of whom see him as a grounded and dependable figure capable of reinvigorating youth participation within the party.

“I come with a heart to serve, a vision to unite, and the experience to move us forward,” Ssemuddu said during a quiet but confident rollout of his campaign message. “It’s time for structured youth leadership that listens, builds, and delivers.”
Ssemuddu’s candidacy signals a deliberate return to leadership anchored in connection with communities — a style he has cultivated over time through mentorship programs, local engagements, and consistent advocacy for youth-friendly policies.
According to our Inspectors, his entry into the race brings credibility to the process, especially in a region that has long been pivotal to NRM’s political landscape.
About the NRM Youth League
The NRM Youth League serves as a vital engine within the party, preparing young leaders for broader national roles and acting as a bridge between the party’s agenda and the concerns of the younger population.
In a country where the youth form the majority, leadership within this league carries both influence and responsibility.
Ssemuddu’s campaign has so far been marked by a message of renewal, inclusion, and capacity-building — seeking to inspire a more involved and visionary youth wing. He speaks of a future where young people are not just beneficiaries but active participants in shaping policy and national discourse.
As the NRM sets the stage for its internal elections, many eyes are on the Central Region — a politically strategic zone whose outcomes often shape the wider party narrative.
