Course members of Cohort Four at the National Defence College Uganda (NDC-U) have begun their field study programme with a visit to Luwero Industries Limited (LIL) in Nakasongola, a subsidiary of the National Enterprises Corporation, the commercial arm of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs.
The delegation was led by Brig Gen Kefa Nangeso, the Dean of Studies at NDC-U.

Maj Gen Sabiti Muzeyi, the General Manager of LIL, told the delegation that the industry has played a key role in socio-economic transformation through innovation, skilling and human resource development. He said these efforts continue to reinforce national security.

He noted that security encompasses much more than defence, pointing out that economic stability, health, environmental protection and education are equally important, and that LIL’s operations directly support these sectors.
Brig Gen Nangeso said the tour is designed to provide course participants with practical exposure that aligns with the college’s national security curriculum.
He explained that LIL was selected because it highlights the connection between industrialisation, technology, education and environmental management, all of which are central to national development.
