In the latest scaled up operations against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a terrorist organization operating in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, police have arrested a suspected spy for the deadly terror group that have been terrorizing both Uganda Kenya for decades.
According to a police statement, they have in custody a one Farouk Matsiko, a 27-year-old suspected ADF member who was arrested in Kafunda cell, Ibanda Municipality where he was allegedly staying before moving to Nyanga cell, Mahyoro sub county in Katagwenda district, for casual work.
His arrest in Kitagwenda came after the community suspected him of being a wrong person and alerted the police.
”Upon arrest, he admitted how he was allegedly kidnapped together with 5 others, in 2015 by ADF at River Nyamwamba, in Kasese, and taken to Kilembe highlands of Mt. Rwenzori where they crossed into the DRC, and trained as an Intelligence Officer. The suspect is well versed with areas of Bundibugyo, Bwera, Luwero, Najjanankumbi and claims he escaped from Califonia ADF Camp, and returned to his home village at Kafunda cell, Ibanda district” police spokes Person Fred Enaga said in a statement.
Separately, the territorial police in CPS Kampala have arrested Ransur Komaketch alias Kadogo, an 18-year-old ADF remnant who was found with live ammunition in the city.
He also admitted to being recruited into the ADF when he was 7 years old, escaping from the ADF camp in Congo, and returning to Uganda.
President Museveni recently stated that as a result of heavy bombardment of ADF bases in Eastern DRC during the ongoing operation Shujaa, some remnants will flee into Uganda, posing a security threat.
“As Joint Security Agencies, we continue to actively monitor all spaces for ADF elements and remnants who are hiding, because they continue to pose a threat to Ugandans and visitors to the country.” Security said
