Victoria University Kampala, has today held its 8th graduation ceremony at Speke Resort International Convention Centre, Munyonyo where over 1,470 students were awarded Master’s, Bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, and certificates in various disciplines.
The event was graced by Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, as Chief Guest, along with the university Founder and Ruparelia Group Chairman, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, and other esteemed guests.
Speaking during the ceremony, Tayebwa commended Dr. Ruparelia for his commitment to quality education, urging the university to invest in research and innovation to drive socio-economic transformation in Uganda and Africa
”I commended Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, the proprietor of the university, for investing in the education sector without chasing profits” Tayebwa said.
”I urge the university management to maintain quality, build synergy with other universities, and invest in ground-breaking research to speed up the socio-economic transformation of our country and the continent as a whole” he added.
He also advised graduates to continue their academic journey, embrace technology, and be cautious with their social media presence.
”To the graduates, this is just the beginning of your academic journey. Go for further studies, work hard, adapt to the current technology, and be mindful of what you post on social media”.
Among the high-profile students who graduated was Francis Isano, a celebrated photographer attached to Next Media Services, the parent company of Nile Broadcasting Services (NBS TV) and Nile Post News.
Vice Chancellor Dr Lawrence Muganga said the university community, parents and well-wishers were celebrating the hard work and sacrifices of the students and their families.
“We are proud of each of our graduands and look forward to celebrating together.” He emphasized that the day marks a reward for the students’ hard work and dedication.
Also present at the graduation was the Honorary of Namibia to Uganda, Godfrey Kirumira, various university vice-chancellors and distinguished guests from all circles of life and industries.
Victoria University has become one of the top universities in Uganda with competitive and marketable academic programs for today’s graduates and job market.
The University has established itself as a leading institution of higher learning in Uganda, leading in the integration of Artificial Intelligence into the country’s education system.
