President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the rehabilitation of the 38.2 km Kikorongo-Bwera-Mpondwe Road in Kasese District.
This vital infrastructure project marks a significant step toward improving connectivity and boosting economic activities in the region. Later, President joined a Thanksgiving ceremony to honor Gen. Wilson Mbadi and Hon. Godfrey Kabyanga for their recent ministerial appointments.
Museveni commended their dedication to national service and their contributions to Uganda’s progress.
Addressing the people of Kasese, President Museveni shared a powerful message focused on four pillars for sustainable development:
- Peace as the Foundation
Peace is the cornerstone of national development. Without it, progress in any sector becomes unattainable. - Wealth Starts at Home
Development loses its meaning if families remain trapped in poverty. He urged every household to strive for economic independence by creating wealth within their means. - Maximizing Land Use
Efficient use of land is key to increasing household incomes. Museveni encouraged residents to adopt practices that optimize agricultural productivity, regardless of land size. - Protecting Natural Resources
Parks and forests are not just environmental treasures; they are vital for tourism and ecological balance. Encroachment risks disasters like landslides and undermines long-term prosperity.
Through his address, President Museveni underscored the need for a collaborative effort to harness Kasese’s potential, ensuring a brighter future for the district and the nation.
