President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held a meeting with Dr. Matthias Magoola, founder of Dei Biopharma Ltd, who provided an update on several groundbreaking medical projects underway at his company.
Dr. Magoola has filed over 100 patents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, targeting the treatment of a wide range of diseases including cancer, HIV, Alzheimer’s, malaria, tuberculosis and diabetes. Notably, some of these patents have already been granted — a significant milestone for Ugandan-led innovation in global healthcare.

President Museveni expressed his satisfaction with the progress and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Dei Biopharma in meeting the necessary accreditation standards. This support will enable the company to secure licenses for local drug production, aimed at serving both domestic and international markets.
“This is a great stride for our country,” the President said. “We will give them all the necessary backing to ensure these life-saving medicines reach those who need them.”
