President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will commission a new block named in his honour at Excel Vocational Training Centre in Bombo Kalule-Luwero on Saturday, August 10, 2024, as the school celebrates its 18th anniversary.
The President, who will serve as the Chief Guest, has confirmed his attendance at the event, which will take place at Kalule playgrounds, near the main campus.

Thousands of Bazzukulu are expected to attend as the Luwero-based school marks 18 years of successful vocational training in Uganda.
Excel Vocational School director, Hajj Shafiq Mwanje, who is also the Head of Mobilization at the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Kyambogo, confirmed that President Museveni will inaugurate the multimillion, three-story building, constructed after a fire outbreak last year that destroyed most of the school’s buildings and property.
Hajj Shafiq, who is also the Bukomansimbi District NRM Chairperson, added that the President Museveni will also launch the school’s historical NRA musical album, created by students in honour of his efforts to rescue the country. Following this, President Museveni will also deliver a powerful message on wealth creation to the people of Luwero.
”Our success is highly attributed to the love and support we have got from the people of Luwero, so it will be unfair if we celebrate our achievements alone without our people. Therefore, I kindly invite everyone to come and celebrate with us and with our President who will be our chief guest,” Chairman Shafiq noted.
According to the organisers, the open-invite event is not just for Excel Vocational School but for the entire community in Luwero and beyond, and therefore every Muzzukulu is invited to attend.
Excel Vocational Training Centre, a privately run technical institute which started in 2006 has to date passed out over 2000 trainees in both business and technical courses.
The school that has had over 12 graduation ceremonies offers practical training in Industrial Art and Design, Hotel and Institutional Catering, Hairdressing and Beauty, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Bricklaying and Concrete Practice.
Other courses taught include; Electronics Repair, Electrical Installation, Welding and Metal Fabrication, Plumbing, Journalism, and Early Childhood Development.
