United Republic of Tanzania has confirmed that its visa-on-arrival service for foreign nationals remains active at all entry points despite rumors of a suspension.
However, Tanzania Immigration Department is encouraging travelers to apply for their visas ahead of time through the online e-Visa system. This shift aims to streamline entry processes, reduce wait times and enhance security. The government hopes the e-Visa option will provide visitors with a more convenient and efficient experience.
In a public notice issued on November 6, the Immigration Department highlighted the benefits of applying for a visa before arriving in Tanzania, including ensuring a smoother travel experience and minimizing waiting times at entry points.
The e-Visa system, which can be accessed easily enables travelers to securely apply for a visa ahead of time and receive approval before making their journey.
“The Immigration Department encourages foreign visitors to apply for their visas through the e-Visa platform to ensure a seamless travel experience,” said Paul Mselle, spokesperson for the Immigration Department.
“This will also help to avoid congestion and long wait times when arriving at Tanzania border posts.”
The notice further said, Tanzania continues to welcome foreign visitors for various purposes, including business, tourism, and education.
The Immigration Department assured the public that it is committed to providing high-quality services that meet both national and international standards.
The department also emphasized that applying for an e-Visa not only streamlines the entry process but also helps in managing the flow of visitors, ensuring that the country remains efficient and organized in its immigration services.
