Uganda Police in Nasana conducted an intelligence-led operation on 20 Nov. 24, at 4:00 a.m. in Kyebando village, targeting a notorious panga-wielding gang that has been terrorizing Kampala and its surroundings.
The operation was prompted by information from a reliable source, leading to the arrest of Kakeeto Imran, who revealed the identities of other gang members during interrogation that led to arrest of ther five identified as Manaishimwe Emable aged 23, Nyweza Aaron, a 20 year old, Muyingo Mike aged 24, Agaba Godfrey_, 18 all boda boda riders and Kakeeto Imran, 17, chapati maker, Mutebi John, 17. All the arrested are residents of Kyebando Kabulengwa.
Two motorcycles (UGG 375G and UFC 613N) and Six mobile phones were recovered.
The suspects confessed to targeting individuals with valuables, utilizing different motorcycles, and employing pangas, hammers, and other breaking tools in their operations.
Their last known operation was in Bukuya, Kasanda District, where they robbed and attacked people with pangas.
The police are conducting thorough investigations to apprehend and prosecute other associates, including the prime suspect, Sserugo, who remains at large.
