The Secretary-General of the NRM, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, underscores the party’s unwavering dedication to eliminating corruption, labeling it as a “cancer” that requires confrontation at all government levels.
Todwong outlined the NRM’s robust institutional framework designed to combat corruption and expressed optimism about the increasing risks associated with corrupt practices in Uganda.

“Ideologically, the NRM has a zero tolerance to corruption policy, under which it set up a very robust institutional framework deliberately put in place to make the fight against corruption easier,” Todwong said.
He made the remarks today as he addressed the media at the NRM Secretariat in the end-of-year press conference.
Todwong called upon NRM leadership at all levels, from the grassroots to the highest echelons of the Central Executive Committee (CEC), to actively participate in the fight against the “cancer of corruption.”

He further called on all accounting officers in Government – from the Sub County Chief at the local Government level right up to the Permanent Secretary, Chief Executive Officers, etc at the Central Government level; to declare 2024 the Year of a total fight against Corruption and related.
