Numerous world leaders and diplomats walked out during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA. The walkout underscored the deep divisions over the ongoing Gaza conflict. The incident highlighted the intense global reactions to Netanyahu’s address.
The incident took place on September 27, 2024, during the 79th session of the UNGA, which convened leaders from across the globe, as reported by sources.

According to international sources, the walkout was a protest against the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where over 42,252 people, mostly women and children, have lost their lives.

The recent surge in violence in Lebanon, which has resulted in attacks on hundreds of Hezbollah members and civilians, was also cited as a reason behind the mass departure of diplomats and delegates from various countries during Netanyahu’s address.

Videos circulating on social media show the delegates leaving the hall while Netanyahu continued speaking from the podium.
Furthermore, as Netanyahu arrived in New York on Thursday, anti-war protesters gathered near the United Nations headquarters to demonstrate against the war in Gaza.
In his speech, Netanyahu, as quoted by the UN’s website, stated that he had originally planned not to attend the meeting. However, after hearing what he described as “lies and slander” directed at his country by other world leaders, he felt compelled to attend and set the record straight.
