Hundreds of youthful supporters of President Yoweri Museveni, popularly known as bazzukulu, thronged Nakuwadde Market at the Lufula (abattoir) in Massanafu along Sentema Road to meet the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo. The gathering served a dual purpose, airing socio-economic grievances and receiving the message of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of wealth creation, dubbed ‘Musevenomics.’

Key Concerns Raised: Water, Electricity, and Land Security

Market vendors and abattoir workers expressed deep frustration over perennial water scarcity and unstable electricity, which they say have crippled their businesses. They appealed to President Museveni, through Hajjat Namyalo, to purchase for them the land currently hosting the market and abattoir to secure their livelihoods.

Women traders revealed that their small SACCOs are struggling without sufficient financial backing. They also requested additional slaughterhouse equipment and a vehicle to improve waste management at the facility.

Leaders Laud Namyalo’s Advocacy

The Wakiso District Khadi, Sheikh Erias Kigozi, applauded Hajjat Namyalo for her tireless efforts in lobbying for the empowerment of Museveni’s most vulnerable bazzukulu particularly single mothers, market workers, and people in hard-to-reach areas.

In her address, Namyalo sympathized with the plight of single mothers in the market, noting the growing irresponsibility of men who abandon their responsibilities leaving women to hustle single handedly. She cautioned women against rushing into relationships without due diligence, warning that the number of single mothers in Uganda is steadily rising.

Youth Demand For Ghetto Support

A group of ghetto youths also seized the moment to complain that they had never benefited from the presidential “ghetto support” programs. Their outcry added to a chorus of unmet expectations from the women and abattoir operators.

In response, Hajjat Namyalo pledged to deliver UGX 5 million in cash to each of the three groups ghetto youths, single mothers, and abattoir operators by next week. She further announced plans to roll out empowerment tools, including sewing machines, welding machines, and car washing equipment, to various youth and women groups across Wakiso District.

Namyalo was also informed that many residents had yet to receive government support through the Women Entrepreneurship Programme (GRO funds), Emyooga, and Parish Development Model (PDM) funds initiatives specifically designed to uplift Ugandans’ economic welfare.

The ONC Manager’s visit underlined a renewed effort to bring ‘Musevenomics’ to life at the grassroots level, focusing on equipping the President’s bazzukulu with practical tools for wealth creation rather than handouts.
