The homeground of Hon. Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune was packed on Saturday as a crowd of supporters, local leaders, and religious figures turned out to celebrate his recent election to a top party position.
The event in Kyanamukaka Sub-county was a loud and colourful thanksgiving for Kasolo’s victory, which saw him become the NRM National Vice Chairperson for Buganda Region on the powerful Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Speaking to the crowd, Kasolo, who is also the State Minister for Microfinance, was quick to share the credit. He said the win was a collective achievement for his supporters in Masaka and the wider Buganda region.
“This result belongs to you,” he said, thanking the NRM delegates and community members. “What we are celebrating here today is our unity.”
The gathering had a festival feel, with music and cultural dances punctuating speeches from a roster of local dignitaries. The turnout included Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) from across greater Masaka, NRM flag bearers, and clergy from various denominations, all pointing to Kasolo’s deep roots in the area.
Local party leaders used their time at the microphone to praise him as a dependable figure who has effectively bridged the gap between national leadership and the people on the ground. One NRM flag bearer called the CEC win a “clear sign of his hard work,” adding, “He has never forgotten us, and today we celebrate one of our own.”
In his remarks, Kasolo also took a forward-looking stance, promising to focus on strengthening the NRM’s structures in Buganda. He pledged to throw his support behind party candidates and to ensure the party remains attuned to local needs, especially with the 2026 general elections on the horizon.
The strong showing in greater Masaka solidifies his position as a key figure for the ruling party in the strategically important Buganda region.
