The newly elected Central Executive Committee (CEC) Chairperson for Buganda Sub-region, Hon. Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune, has called on the people of Luwero and Greater Luwero to reaffirm their position as a National Resistance Movement (NRM) stronghold as President Yoweri Museveni prepares to launch his campaigns tomorrow, 30th September 2025.

Speaking to party leaders and supporters in Wobulenzi Town Council, Kasolo emphasized unity and loyalty to the President, stressing that this moment marks a turning point as Museveni seeks his final term in office.

”Our strength as Luwero and Greater Luwero lies in standing united behind President Museveni. This is the moment to prove that we are the backbone of the NRM as he begins his final journey of leadership, show that strength and Unity tomorrow at Bukalasa,” Hon. Haruna Kasolo told the gathering.

Leaders at the meeting applauded Kasolo for revitalizing grassroots structures, energizing the youth, and steering mobilization across the district. They credited him with rekindling Luwero’s political loyalty to NRM ahead of 2026.

Wobulenzi Town Council NRM Chairman Yasin Segawa, widely known as the “Mayor of Wobulenzi,” praised Kasolo for amplifying Luwero’s voice in the CEC. He appealed for government support to construct a new block at Wobulenzi Public School and assured that the community is fully mobilized for Bukalasa’s campaign launch.

Youth leaders also hailed Kasolo for delivering motorcycles to aid mobilization, pledging to campaign vigorously for Museveni’s re-election. Agnes Kirabo Nantongo, the NRM flagbearer for Luwero Woman MP, encouraged the youth to remain committed to the party, noting that more opportunities await under NRM’s leadership.

Minister Alice Kaboyo rallied veterans and the Bazzukulu to stand behind Museveni, while NRM Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja reminded the audience of the transformation Luwero has seen under NRM leadership, including improvements in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

“Luwero’s progress is a testament to what NRM has delivered. Now is the time for veterans and Bazzukulu alike to stand shoulder to shoulder with President Museveni and safeguard the gains we have made.” — Namayanja said.

“Today those streets are shining because of NRM’s leadership. Luwero has over 200 schools, modern hospitals, and improved roads like Luwero–Kiwoko–Butalangu—all fruits of Museveni’s leadership,” Namayanja added.

In his keynote address, Kasolo described the youth as “the backbone of Museveni’s 2026 victory,” urging residents to back NRM candidates at all levels. He handed over six motorcycles to youth leaders from Luwero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola, promising additional empowerment initiatives.

Kasolo further noted that Luwero has lagged behind in development due to voting for the opposition and urged voters to correct this in 2026 by supporting NRM flagbearers, including Woman MP candidate Agnes Kirabo and Abubaker Kalume.

“If Museveni is given a solid NRM team in Parliament, your issues will be addressed faster. Luwero must not lag behind. The president is determined to deliver more in the next five years,” Kasolo assured.

Also in attendance were Michael Nuwagira (Toyota) and Hon. Michael Mawanda of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), who joined in mobilizing the Bazzukulu to turn up in large numbers at Bukalasa playground to welcome President Museveni as he officially kicks off his 2026 campaign.
