StarTimes has officially launched the new season of documentary series titled “A Glimpse of China in the New Era,” offering viewers a captivating exploration of China’s culture and landscapes through the eyes of foreigners living in the country.
Airing from September through October on ST Zone, ST Novela E, and the StarTimes ON streaming app, the series aims to deepen mutual understanding and foster cultural connections between Africa, China, and beyond.
The documentary follows African and international individuals — including artists, entrepreneurs, and nature enthusiasts — who share their personal stories of life, work, and discovery in modern China.
Through their unique perspectives, audiences will embark on a visual and cultural journey across the nation, experiencing the serene charm of Taizhou, the vibrant pulse of Chongqing, the timeless grace of Chongzhou, the coastal traditions of Fujian, the ancient sands of Dunhuang, and the spiritual majesty of Wudang Mountain.
Moving beyond China’s major metropolises, A Glimpse of China in the New Era showcases the country’s breathtaking variety — from its rich cultural heritage to its evolving local lifestyles — highlighting how foreigners have found inspiration and opportunity within China’s dynamic transformation.
“Our audience will not only witness inspiring cross-cultural stories but also gain deeper insight into China’s diverse cultural landscape through the fresh and relatable eyes of foreigners living here,” said Aldrine Nsubuga, Vice President of StarTimes Uganda.
“The series is both an educational journey and a stunning visual experience, opening new possibilities for cultural dialogue between Africa and China.”
In addition to on-screen storytelling, StarTimes has also supported offline events inspired by the series. These activities promote cultural appreciation, dialogue, and engagement — extending the documentary’s spirit of connection beyond the screen.
