Acholi Inn Hotel, one of Northern Uganda’s most distinguished hospitality landmarks, has expressed deep appreciation to businessman and philanthropist Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia for visiting the facility during the Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally 2025 held in Gulu over the weekend.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the hotel extended its gratitude, describing the visit as a proud and memorable moment.

“We were deeply honored to host Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, one of Uganda’s most distinguished entrepreneurs, here at Acholi Inn Hotel during the Rajiv Memorial Rally weekend. Your visit added great prestige to our home of Northern hospitality. We celebrate your continued support for sports, tourism, and Uganda’s growth,” the post read.

The message, which quickly drew widespread attention online, reflected the overwhelming warmth shown to the Ruparelia family throughout the memorial rally. Thousands gathered in Gulu to celebrate the life of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, a celebrated businessman, rally driver, and philanthropist whose legacy continues to inspire many since his passing on May 3, 2025.

The event, which doubled as the sixth round of the National Rally Championship (NRC), spanned 260 kilometres with 132.6 kilometres of competitive stages. It attracted elite rally drivers such as Ronald Sebuguzi, Ponsiano Lwakataka, Nasser Mutebi, and Duncan Mubiru, blending the thrill of motorsport with a touching tribute to Rajiv’s life and passion.
Dr. Sudhir, who served as the rally’s chief guest, commended organizers and competitors for honoring Rajiv’s legacy through an event that uplifts youth and promotes tourism.
“Rajiv’s legacy will live on through this memorial rally, which aims to promote motorsport and give back to the community,” he said.
In recognition of Rajiv’s contribution to business and sports, Gulu City Council announced plans to name a major road “Rajiv Ruparelia Road.” Mayor Alfred Okwonga described the decision as a symbol of the lasting inspiration Rajiv left in northern Uganda.
Acholi Inn’s tribute highlighted how the Ruparelia family’s influence continues to shape Uganda’s progress in areas such as education, real estate, philanthropy, and sports. The hotel noted that hosting Dr. Sudhir during the high-profile event reaffirmed Gulu’s reputation as a growing centre for tourism and national gatherings.
