Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Receives Generous Boost for Green Initiatives as prominent businessman, Hamis Kiggundu Donates 100,000 Royal Palm Trees

In a demonstration of unwavering commitment, Hamis Kiggundu,

a prominent businessman, has contributed significantly to KCCA’s green initiatives by generously donating 100,000 royal palm trees.

The initiative, aimed at enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal and fostering a more environmentally friendly urban landscape, was officially launched through a tree-planting ceremony along Ggaba road in Makindye Division.

Hon. Hajjati Minsa Kabanda, the Minister of Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, lauded Kigundu’s substantial support for the city’s greening campaign.

Hajjati Minsa Kabanda further encouraged the public to embrace and endorse such initiatives, underlining their positive impact on the overall development of the city.

She also used the opportunity to caution livestock owners urging them to implement measures to protect their animals during the ongoing green initiative.

Dorothy Kisaka, the Executive Director of KCCA, expressed gratitude for Kiggundu’s substantial donation and called on other individuals and businesses to emulate his example.

Stressing the collective responsibility of the city’s residents in supporting development initiatives, Kisaka urged all urban dwellers to actively engage in the tree-planting initiative for the creation of a greener and more aesthetically pleasing urban environment.

Addressing the tree handover ceremony, Kiggundu emphasized, “This city is ours, this country is ours; it’s crucial to support its development and enhance the beauty of our surroundings.”
