Minister of Finance, Planning & Economic Development, Republic of Uganda & Member of Parliament, Buyanja County, Kibaale District Matia Kasaija announced the release of the first tranche of UGX 529 billion for capitalisation of PDM SACCOs in FY 2025/26.
Starting tomorrow,all the 10,589 verified PDM SACCOs will receive UGX 50 million each directly into their PDM SACCO accounts. In accordance with the PDM policy, Government of Uganda releases PDM funds in two tranches of UGX 50 million for each PDM SACCO every six months.

“The Parish Development Model is no longer a theory, It is a reality. It is in your parishes. It is in your households. PDM is growing bigger, stronger and more impactful,” said Kasaija while releasing the funds at Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

Government has so far transferred UGX 3.216 trillion directly to 10,589 parishes. Every single parish has now received at least UGX 300 million and 99% of these funds have already been disbursed to 3.27 million Ugandans.

While announcing the release of Shs 529 billion to all verified PDM SACCOs, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija said no beneficiary should be charged any fee to access their PDM loan.
Kasaija said RDCs, DISOs, and Accounting Officers must take firm action against any fraudsters or extortionists.

“Anyone who abuses the PDM system will be punished according to the law, firmly and swiftly,” said the Minister adding that SACCO leaders must ensure proper selection, monitoring and loan recovery.
Kasaija also encouraged SACCO members to save, invest, repay and build their SACCOs to foster strong parish economies.
Kasaija said Government of Uganda is committed to ensuring that PDM continues to transform the lives of ordinary Ugandans.
“When President Museveni promised UGX 1 trillion every year to the parishes, some doubted. But as always, the NRM Government has delivered,” he said.
