Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abbas Byakagaba, has called on officers in the Rwenzori East region (Kasese) to embrace the concept of area policing as part of their efforts to combat crime and enhance security.
Byakagaba emphasized the importance of vigilance and teamwork among the officers to ensure more effective policing. The IGP also commended the officers for their swift and coordinated response during the attacks on Kasese Barracks on November 1st.

In addition, IGP Byakagaba paid a courtesy call to officials from the Obusinga Bwarezuru, led by Prime Minister Benson Kule Baritazale. During the meeting, the IGP urged the officials to actively support the police by providing timely information and assisting with police programs, including the Subcounty Policing Model.


Byakagaba highlighted that such collaborations will contribute to a more effective security strategy and ultimately improve safety in the region.
Furthermore, the IGP engaged with various security stakeholders and religious leaders in the region, seeking their input and cooperation in developing long-term solutions to the security challenges faced by the community in Kasese.
