This Sunday, September 21st, the people of Bukomansimbi District will gather at Bulenge Playground for a thanksgiving celebration in honour of Hajji Shafic Mwanje, who was recently elected as the National Chairperson for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s Central Executive Committee(CEC).
Hajji Shafic Mwanje confirmed that the thanksgiving event is both a gesture of gratitude to God for this milestone and a show of grassroots solidarity and political mobilization. He noted that the event is being organized by his supporters in Bukomansimbi, where he also serves as District NRM Chairperson.

In response to this development, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) where Hajji Shafic serves as Director of Mobilization, has joined the celebrations with a commitment to empower the Bazzukulu through the provision of capital tools aimed at boosting household incomes.
The event will feature prayers, music performances and a community empowerment session during which start-up tools and materials will be distributed by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo the Senior Presidential Advisor and Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC).
“We are coming to Bukomansimbi not just to celebrate Hajji Shafic’s victory, but to empower the people — especially the youth and women” Hajjat Namyalo said while addressing the media this evening at her offices in Kyambogo.
“We’re walking the talk of socio-economic transformation. As ONC, we believe that political mobilization must go hand in hand with real empowerment. That’s why we’re giving out start-up tools to help people work and earn, not just words and clap for leaders,” she added.
Furthermore, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized that empowerment and mobilization must go hand in hand, saying the ONC’s approach is action-oriented and aimed at restoring people’s confidence in government programs through tangible support at the grassroots.
The tools to be distributed will include sewing machines, carpentry kits, hairdressing equipment, welding tools, agricultural inputs, and other livelihood-enabling items tailored to the needs of local residents.
On his part, Hajji Shafic Mwanje, who is also known for his charity work and advocacy for vulnerable groups commended ONC and Hajjat Namyalo for the support and the people of Bukomansimbi for entrusting him with leadership.
”This victory has showcased what inclusive leadership looks like, where people with disabilities are recognized, represented and empowered. I thank the people of Bukomansimbi and all Ugandans for trusting me with this role. I pledge to serve with loyalty, humility and focus.”
The event will also serve as a launchpad for political mobilization ahead of the 2026 general elections, with Hajji Shafic and Hajjat Namyalo expected to rally support for President Museveni’s candidature and maintaining the NRM’s leadership for continued peace and development.
