President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. (rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni presided over the commissioning of 498 Officer Cadets of Intake 19/25 Long at the UPDF Basic Military Training School in Kaweweta.
These young patriots now join the ranks of an army built on the pillars of Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, discipline, professionalism and resilience.

Museveni commends the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) leadership for upholding this enduring tradition of excellence.

The 177km Salim Saleh Trek, undertaken by the cadets, stands as a tribute to our nation’s heroic past and the sacrifices that shaped Uganda’s stability.
I am equally pleased to witness the participation of our African counterparts from Tanzania, Somalia, Mali, and the Central African Republic—a testament to the growing spirit of African unity and self-reliance. Together, we affirm that Africa can and must take charge of her own destiny.
