Hundreds of enthusiastic National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters thronged Namisindwa Technical College to welcome the Presidential candidate and NRM National Chairman, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, as his 2026 campaign trail reached Namisindwa District.
The rally was led by the Second National Vice Chairperson of the NRM, Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among, who steered the day’s campaign task force. The President was also accompanied by the First Daughter, Ms. Natasha Karugire, among other senior government officials.

During the rally, President Museveni — who holds the NRM presidential flag for the 2026–2031 term — addressed the people of Namisindwa on key national issues including peace, social-economic transformation, infrastructure, and wealth creation.

Local leaders from Namisindwa presented their requests to the President, citing challenges in infrastructure, water, and education, while also appreciating government achievements in the district.
“We are committed to protecting the gains we have achieved under the NRM government and to working harder for the continued progress of our district,” said Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among.
Mr. Calvin Echodu, a member of the NRM Central Executive Committee, also pledged Namisindwa’s full support to President Museveni and the NRM cause.
In his address, President Museveni reminded the people of Namisindwa that the peace and stability enjoyed today came through sacrifice and determination.
“Pacifying Uganda was not an easy task. We must continue to protect the peace and stability that now allow development to flourish,” he said.
Given Namisindwa’s mountainous terrain surrounding Mount Elgon, the President promised more government efforts toward improving road infrastructure.
“We shall continue to expand the road network so that no Ugandan is left behind,” he noted.
He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to expanding access to clean water, schools, health facilities, and electricity, assuring residents that “more is coming.”
Despite a heavy afternoon downpour that briefly interrupted his speech, the President returned to complete his address, earning loud cheers from the devoted crowd.
“Infrastructure alone cannot bring development; people must use government money wisely to create wealth and lift themselves out of poverty,” he urged.
President Museveni also highlighted progress under his 40-year leadership, particularly in areas such as peace, ICT, education, and rural electrification.
“We had no electricity, no telephones, and few schools or health centers — but now we have them all. That is why our population has grown, and life has improved,” he remarked.
He further emphasized the role of Wealth Creation, Parish Development Model (PDM), and skilling programs in transforming livelihoods.
One of the beneficiaries from the Lukonge Skilling Hub testified before the crowd, thanking H.E. Museveni for the UGX 50 million support that helped them acquire skills and start businesses. In response, the President pledged additional capital to expand the initiative so more youth can create jobs for themselves.
“In developed countries, few people work in government, yet they prosper. That’s why we are emphasizing wealth creation through production and skills,” said the President.
The event also saw the official flag handover ceremony to NRM flag bearers in Namisindwa. Hon. Khalayi Peace, the NRM Woman MP flag bearer, received the party flag from the National Chairman and expressed her commitment to securing a 75% victory for President Museveni.
“I will mobilize from the grassroots to ensure our Chairman wins resoundingly in Namisindwa,” she pledged.
Hon. Emma Bwayo, the NRM LCV flag bearer, also received his flag and lauded the President for prioritizing Namisindwa in Bugisu Region.
“Under H.E. Museveni’s 40-year leadership, we have seen tremendous progress in Namisindwa. We shall continue to support him to sustain these gains,” said Bwayo.
In conclusion, President Museveni thanked the people of Namisindwa for their unwavering loyalty and assured them of continued progress once re-elected.
“The NRM has laid a strong foundation for peace and development. Together, we shall consolidate and protect the gains for a prosperous Uganda,” he concluded.
