The Office of the National Chairman (ONC), led by Senior Presidential Advisor Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has launched a massive anti-poverty drive targeting slum communities, with the first empowerment rollout set for July 4, 2025, in Katwe (Kasaawe), Makindye Division.
Under the theme “Abanaku Tweyambe Wealth Creation Empowerment”, the initiative will focus on providing hands-on start-up tools and equipment to different groups, including unemployed youth, women, the elderly, sex workers, and slum dwellers, groups often left behind by mainstream interventions.

While addressing the media at ONC headquarters in Kyambogo on Tuesday, June 24, Hajjat Namyalo said the campaign represents a practical shift from rhetoric to results. “This is just the beginning. We shall not rest until all parts of the country benefit, we have had these empowerment campaigns across the county including, Masaka , Bushenyi, Soroti, Kaliro, Lamwo, Bukomansimbi, Mpigi, Wakiso and Kawempe among other districts, this time we have decided to empower the Bazzukulu in Makindye.

According to Hajjat Namyalo, different Groups will receive start up capital tools including salon dryers, sewing machines, carpentry tools, popcorn machines, and boda boda motorcycles to support income-generating activities and promote long-term self-reliance.
While Uganda already runs programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and Operation Wealth Creation, Hajjat Namyalo said this ONC-led initiative was born out of direct community requests and sustained lobbying at the highest level.
“People from different areas have been calling us since last year, asking for support. I kept pushing the President, even with limited funds. My persistence paid off, and that’s why we’re here today,” she said.
The ONC campaign, which has already reached communities in Luwero, Mukono, Acholi Sub-Region, and Ankole, aims to serve as a supplementary but decisive intervention under President Museveni’s wider wealth creation agenda.
Impact of Hajjat Namyalo’s Empowerment Initiatives
Under Hajjat Namyalo’s stewardship, ONC has spearheaded several empowerment programs across the country, transforming countless lives through entrepreneurship, vocational training, and financial literacy campaigns.
From youth and women empowerment drives to agricultural support initiatives, her leadership has been instrumental in ensuring Ugandans harness available opportunities for self-reliance.
Hajjat Namyalo’s initiatives have achieved significant milestones in grassroots empowerment across Uganda. Thousands of youths have been equipped with vocational skills, enabling them to start their own businesses and combat unemployment.
Women in various regions have gained access to start-up capital, business mentorship and cooperative programs designed to enhance financial independence. In the agricultural sector, farmers have benefited from improved seeds, modern farming tools and agribusiness training to boost food security and economic stability.
Additionally, small business owners have received additional income generating tools to sustain and grow their enterprises, further driving economic empowerment and self-reliance.
After Makindye, ONC will spread to other areas to drive its mission of wealth creation, reinforcing NRM government’s vision of economic prosperity for all.
