The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among, on Friday led a massive mobilisation rally in Mayuge District, rallying residents to stand firm behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ahead of the President’s scheduled campaign visit to the area next month.
The event, held at Bukizibu Primary School Grounds in Malongo Sub-county, Bunya South, was hosted by Hon. Iddi Isabirye, the area MP, and attracted tens of thousands of enthusiastic NRM supporters, popularly known as Bazzukulu ba Museveni.

Addressing the crowds, Speaker Among commended the people of Mayuge for their overwhelming turnout and urged them to replicate the same energy when President Museveni, who is also the NRM Presidential Flagbearer, visits the district on November 18, 2025, as part of his national campaign trail scheduled between November 15 and 21.

“Mayuge has always stood with the NRM and with President Museveni. Let us maintain that spirit and show him love when he comes here next month. Development comes where there is unity and loyalty,” Among said, drawing applause from the crowd.
The Speaker’s visit also followed a petition earlier submitted to her office by district leaders requesting support for local community groups; including women, youth, and transport operators. She said her office and Parliament would work closely with the relevant ministries to ensure these groups benefit from ongoing government programs.

Anita Among, who also doubles as the NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female), further announced that the 62-kilometre Iganga–Mayuge Road had been included in the national development plan and would soon be upgraded to boost transport, trade, and access to services.
Anita Among also reassured residents on the contentious South Busoga Forest land issue, saying government recognizes people’s rights and will ensure that no one is wrongfully evicted.
“Government will not allow any injustice to be done to the people of South Busoga. You are the rightful custodians of this land,” she said.

Addressing the sugarcane sector, Anita Among revealed that Parliament is finalizing a new law to regulate the industry and protect the interests of farmers and millers.
She also noted that under the Parish Development Model (PDM), a dedicated fund has been created to support fishing communities, with each parish expected to receive Shs 15 million to empower local leaders such as LC I and LC II chairpersons and parish chiefs.
Furthermore, Anita Among thanked President Museveni for ensuring peace and stability in Busoga and across Uganda, revealing that Shs 1.3 billion has already been allocated for road works in Mayuge and that plans are underway to upgrade Mayuge Hospital and promised close oversight to ensure proper accountability for government funds.

Speaker Anita Among also urged residents to remain loyal to the NRM and reject opposition propaganda. “A protest vote is a curse vote,” she said. “We must vote for someone whose works we can see — the schools, hospitals, roads, and peace we all enjoy under President Museveni.”
Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretary General, Hon. David Kabanda, also addressed the rally, calling on young people to safeguard the NRM vote.
“Our task is simple, protect Jajja Museveni’s vote until January 2026. Do not be misled by political opportunists. The future belongs to those who stay loyal to the truth,” Kabanda said.
The rally’s special guest, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), commended the Speaker for reinvigorating the NRM’s mobilisation efforts across Busoga.
“The Speaker has breathed new life into our party structures. The energy she brings is what NRM needs as we prepare for 2026. To the people of Busoga, let’s not repeat the mistake of 2021 when some areas followed the NUP wave and lost out on development opportunities. This time vote wisely and secure your future,” Namyalo told the cheering crowd.

She reaffirmed ONC’s commitment to supporting women, youth, boda boda riders, taxi operators, and other organised groups through empowerment programs aimed at boosting household incomes and self-reliance. Namyalo also appealed for unity among NRM supporters, warning that internal wrangles weaken the party’s mission.
“Let’s put aside our differences and work together for one cause — victory for President Museveni and development for Uganda,” she said to loud applause.
The event was attended by several prominent NRM leaders and flag bearers from the Busoga Subregion, including Hon. Bwiire Sanon Nadeeba (Bulamogi), Hon. Moses Grace Balyeku (Jinja South West), Hon. Solomon Silwany (Bukhooli Central), Hon. Milton Muwuuma (Kigulu South), Hon. Ekoro Alex (Bunya East), Hon. Mpaata Saleh (Bunya South), Ziija David (Mayuge LC5 Flagbearer), and Bagyire Aggrey (Bunya West and Mayuge NRM Chairperson).
The Mayuge mobilisation drive is part of a broader NRM campaign strategy aimed at reawakening the party’s grassroots base across Busoga and other regions in preparation for the 2026 general elections.
