Uganda Police In Rukungiri Municipality Recover Stolen Vehicle Number Plates

On July 25, 2024, Rukungiri Municipality police launched a targeted operation to combat the surge in vehicle number plate thefts. The raid resulted in the arrest of Mujuni Brian and Arinaitwe Anthony and the recovery of multiple stolen plates.

  2. UBQ 0131T, stolen in June 2024
  3. UBA 458C, stolen on July 20, 2024
  4. UBD 908K, stolen on July 20, 2024
  5. UBB 279S, stolen on July 21, 2024.

The stolen number plates were recovered with the help of the arrested suspects. The operation is ongoing. To combat this trend car owners are advised to use vehicle tracking devices and fleet monitoring systems. Police also warn mechanics and dealers who facilitate these crimes.
