In Kampala, the High Court has handed down a severe sentence of 105 years in prison to Musa Musasizi, a 25-year-old unemployed resident of Mujomba zone 6, Nakulabye, Rubaga Division. Musasizi pleaded guilty to the murder charges involving the deaths of four girlfriends and a three-month-old baby in Nakulabye.
Musasizi was arrested on March 25, 2021 by a joint security team of the chieftaincy of military intelligence and police. Court heard that Musasizi would court the victims, have sex with them before killing them by either hitting on their heads with a blunt object or strangling.
The court learned that Musasizi engaged in the disturbing practice of burning the corpses of his victims after committing the murders. The trial, presided over by Judge Margaret Mutonyi, concluded with Musasizi’s conviction.
The series of crimes took place in March 2021, leading to Musasizi’s arrest. Initially, he faced five counts of murder before the Mwanga II magistrate’s court and was subsequently remanded to Kitalya prison.
According to the prosecution, Musasizi committed the first murder on March 14, 2021, when he maliciously killed Noreen Nabirye in Mujomba zone 6, Nakulabye. The subsequent victims included Violet Kansiime, Abigail Nakitende, and Elizabeth Mutesi on different dates in March 2021.
In a separate case, Musasizi, along with 23-year-old boda boda rider Abdul Kasaija, a resident of Mapera Zone, Lussaze in Rubanga Divison, was charged with the murder of Mackline Ahereza on February 22, 2021. Kasaija faced additional charges of being an accessory, alleging that he assisted Musasizi in disposing of Ahereza’s body to evade punishment.
The joint security team of the chieftaincy of military intelligence and police apprehended Musasizi on March 25, 2021. Investigations revealed a chilling modus operandi: Musasizi would court his victims, engage in sexual activities, and subsequently kill them, using methods such as striking their heads with a blunt object or strangulation.
Musasizi confessed to the murders during police interrogation, providing disturbing details. He explained that he killed Ahereza due to suspicions of her having another boyfriend. Additionally, he disclosed that he strangled Kansiime Violent and her three-month-old baby, and he revealed the motive behind Mutesi’s of Makerere murder, which stemmed from a disagreement after a financial transaction of Shs 50,000 which she rejected on grounds that was less of what she expected.
Police discovered clothes belonging to the victims in a neighbor’s latrine, further cementing the evidence against Musasizi. The court’s verdict serves as a stern response to these heinous crimes, ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
