Dec 20, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had an engagement and interacted with the youth groups from Kampala’s ghettos at Kololo.

Museveni conveyed a crucial message emphasizing their participation in the key sectors of commercial agriculture, industry, services, and ICT to uplift themselves from poverty. It’s heartening to note that some are already actively involved in the services sector, and we are committed to supporting them through the State House skilling initiative.

Museveni extends his gratitude to Brigadier Ddamulira, Major Emma Kutesa, and their collaborators for their efforts in illuminating the ghetto and mobilizing the youth to establish Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs). Currently, the ghetto youth groups have successfully formed 12 SACCOs, and to aid their initiatives, we are providing each group with startup capital of 100 million shillings”.

Museveni’s appeal to them is to foster collaboration and maintain accountability within the groups, recognizing that these SACCOs can be a transformative force in their lives. I wish them the best of luck on their journey towards economic empowerment!
