President Museveni has renewed the contract of Dr Chris Mukiza as the executive director of Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) for another term of five years.
This has been revealed by the statistics body. Mukiza’s contract was to end on March 31.
“The board, management and staff of Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) congratulate the executive director Chris Ndatira Mukiza upon his well-deserved reappointment for another five years as the executive director of UBOS,” UBOS stated.
The appointment keeps Mukiza as the country’s chief statistician for five more years.
UBOS says Mukiza’s appointment is a testament of faith, confidence, and support that President Yoweri Museveni and the Bureau have bestowed upon him.
“This further showcases your exemplary, visionary and transformational leadership that has produced remarkable accomplishments for the Bureau during the past five-year term,” the bureau stated.
Mukiza assumed the position of executive director of UBOS in 2019, replacing Ben Paul Mungyereza.
His reappointment comes at a time the country is set to hold a national census starting on May 10.
Mukiza boasts over 25 years’ work experience in the area of Statistical production.
Before his current role, he served at UBOS as the director Macro-economic Statistics from 2010. He also served as a Director in the Executive Director’s Office in 2008-9 and as a Principal Statistician from 2000 to 2007.
Mukiza holds a PhD in Economics of the University of Southampton, a Master’s degree in Economics from Makerere University and a Bachelor of Statistics degree of Makerere University.
