Naalya Secondary School stood as a bastion of remembrance and celebration as it paid heartfelt tributes to its departed teaching and non-teaching staff. Gathered in solemnity, the school community honored the indelible contributions of these individuals who had dedicated themselves to the noble cause of education.
Amidst this somber occasion, the school also embraced a spirit of gratitude and achievement as it held a thanksgiving service to laud the remarkable success of its students in the recently unveiled 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination.
Guiding the congregation through moments of reflection and reverence was Reverend Emmanuel Awancha from St. Luke Church-Bweyogerere whose words resonated deeply within the hearts of all present. With profound insight, he illuminated the path of faith reminding every believer of the enduring strength found in the victory of Jesus over death and the profound implications of resurrection.
In honoring the departed, Reverend Awancha underscored the legacy left behind by those who had selflessly toiled to shape the fabric of Naalya Secondary School. Teachers, cooks, drivers and esteemed figures like Mr. Kangave Kato, Mr. Lubega Richard, Mr. Pilot Mbaata, Ms. Nabubi Betty, Canon Godfrey Njagala were remembered for their unwavering commitment to the institution’s growth and development.
Addressing the students, Reverend Awancha, a student himself at Uganda Christian University Mukono, emphasized the importance of spiritual guidance in their journey towards leadership. You still need to be mentored spiritually because you are the Ugandan leaders of tomorrow, he affirmed, urging them to carry the torch of faith and integrity.
Beyond the confines of the school’s walls, Reverend Awancha extended his plea for prayer to his homeland of Sudan, a nation grappling with its own trials. He urged unity in the pursuit of reviving the Gospel’s message of peace and togetherness, drawing parallels between Sudan’s historical roots in Christianity and its present challenges.
Echoing sentiments of gratitude and anticipation, Head Teacher Robinah Nsangi expressed the school’s profound thankfulness for the academic achievements attained. With the dawn of a new curriculum, the school remained resolute in its commitment to excellence, eagerly anticipating the forthcoming UCE examinations.
Director Livingstone Ddungu, in recognition of outstanding performance, commended the vibrant support of the School’s alumni association (Naalya Old Student’s Association).
Their unwavering dedication served as a beacon of inspiration for both current and future generations of Naalya students, underscoring the essence of communal support and solidarity.
As the service drew to a close, the halls of Naalya Secondary School reverberated with a sense of unity, remembrance, and hope. In honoring the past and embracing the future, the school community stood united in its pursuit of knowledge, excellence and the enduring values of faith and service
