The South African presidency has denied assertions circulating on social media regarding President Cyril Ramaphosa’s purported illness and hospitalization in Pretoria.
Speculation arose about President Ramaphosa’s well-being when he was absent from a recent ANC meeting in Mpumalanga province. The ANC attributed his nonattendance to an unspecified “emergency.”
In response to the speculations, Vincent Magwenya, the presidential spokesperson, took to social media to clarify that the president is in good health, was not admitted to a hospital, and no emergency transpired.
Magwenya underscored that President Ramaphosa opted to spend the day at home, gearing up for a busy week, dismissing the rumors as “malicious.”
